The Eta Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated Participate in the Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge to support Special Olympics, Maryland
SANDY POINT STATE PARK, ANNAPOLIS, MD. On February 3, 2024, the Brothers of the Eta Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, participated in the Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge, a Maryland Tradition of over 30 years.

More than 10 Eta Eta Lambda Chapter Brothers took the plunge into the Chesapeake Bay amid a frigid 40 degree day. Brothers Eugene Sweet, Jr., Jamar Turner, Tarik Harris, Andre Dillard, Adrian Hood, Sr., Michael Ligons, Jr., Sherod Cooley, Brian Boles, Gerald Russell, Jamal Whaley, Malik Branch, all participated in the event. In preparation for the big plunge, brothers were featured on the Washington, DC NBC affiliate WRC-TV 4 for a spot encapsulating why

Collectively, the chapter raised more than $3,500 to support the effort, which was more than 700% of the original fundraising goal.

The Eta Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated values the opportunity to support such a worthy cause which ultimately creates opportunities for children and young adults in our community to engage in sports and team building activities regardless of their
perceived physical and mental limitations.
