On Saturday, December 6, Alpha Academy participated in its very first Aerial Drone Competition — Drones in Baltimore. Eleven teams competed, with ours being the only middle school entry; all others were high school teams. We entered two squads — Red Wings and Sky Hawks — each made up of four mentees.

The competition tested both their manual piloting abilities and their skill in programming drones to fly autonomously. Despite facing older and more experienced teams, our scholars placed 3rd and 4th overall. We could not be prouder of them. They were focused, composed, and locked in from start to finish.

The teams were coached by Bro. Dr. Adrian Hood and Bro. Jamaal Whaley, whose guidance, preparation, and encouragement played a major role in the students’ success.

A sincere thank you to everyone who has donated toward the purchase of drones, laptops, event materials, and all the resources that made this possible. Your support is building the next generation of innovators, pilots, and engineers.

The best is yet to come. 🚁✨
