On Saturday, September 13, the Alpha Academy Mentoring Program officially kicked off its 2025–2026 school year with an exciting morning of engagement, learning, and inspiration. Mentees arrived alongside their parents, ready to dive into a year of growth and opportunity.
The morning began with an icebreaker that set the tone for confidence and camaraderie. Mentees were grouped together and asked a series of thought-provoking questions. One by one, each young man took the mic to share his perspective, ensuring that every voice was heard. By the end of the exercise, every mentee had stood before his peers and parents, gaining valuable experience in public speaking and self-expression.
The session then transitioned into a walk-through of the Alpha Academy Onboarding Package. Mentors introduced the pillars of the program, including the Saturday Academy schedule, the Mentor and Mentee Mission Statements, and the Mentee Rules. This orientation helped mentees and parents alike understand the structure and expectations that will guide the year ahead.
Two live demonstrations brought the morning to life. Brother Dexter Moore introduced his upcoming Chess and STEM course, highlighting how strategic thinking and problem-solving skills connect to real-world success. Next, Dr. Adrian Hood showcased the Middle School Drone Program, featuring returning mentee-pilots who wowed the audience with their aerial maneuvers. Their performance gave new mentees a glimpse into the hands-on learning and competition opportunities that lie ahead.
The kickoff was more than just an introduction—it was a celebration of community, mentorship, and the bright future of our young men. With the foundation set, Alpha Academy looks forward to a year filled with growth, teamwork, and achievement.
