Eta Eta Lambda Chapter’s Alpha Academy Engages Young Leaders in December 2024 Meeting

The December 2024 meeting of the Eta Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.’s Alpha Academy was a vibrant and inspiring gathering that showcased the chapter’s commitment to leadership, education, and mentorship for youth across diverse areas of interest. As the fourth session of the 2024-2025 school year, this meeting demonstrated the Academy’s multifaceted approach to engaging young men in meaningful activities designed to inspire and develop their skills.

Barbershop Talk Mentoring with High School Students The afternoon commenced with an insightful Barbershop Talk mentoring discussion with high school students. Facilitated by chapter members, this candid roundtable created a safe space for our youth to discuss challenges they face, role models, academic goals, and community involvement. The session emphasized the importance of positive mentorship, self-identity, and setting high aspirations for their futures.

Engineering Planning and Design for Pinewood Derby Cars Middle school participants delved into the exciting world of engineering through hands-on planning and designing for the upcoming Pinewood Derby competition. Guided by mentors, the young men explored concepts of physics, precise measurements, and creative problem-solving while building race cars that reflect their ingenuity. The session fostered critical thinking, teamwork, and technical skills—all essential for future careers in STEM fields.

Data Mining Techniques Using Gaming for Elementary Students Elementary school students were introduced to the fundamentals of data mining through interactive gaming activities. This innovative approach used gaming scenarios to help students understand how data is collected, analyzed, and used to make informed decisions.
