Cambridge & Hanover, Maryland — November 11, 2025

In honor of Veterans Day, the brothers of the Elite Eta Eta Lambda Chapter gathered for a day of fellowship, reflection, and brotherhood — paying special tribute to the Veterans of Eta Eta Lambda Chapter whose dedication, courage, and service continue to exemplify the highest ideals of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

To mark the occasion, the chapter traveled to the historic Cedar Meadows Rod & Gun Club in Cambridge, Maryland, followed by lunch at The Greene Turtle in Hanover, Maryland.

A Visit Steeped in History and Purpose

Founded more than seventy years ago, the Cedar Meadows Rod and Gun Club, Inc. holds a proud place in Maryland’s sporting and community history. The club was formally incorporated in November 1953 by a progressive group of outdoor enthusiasts led by Leonard “Bud” Keene.

United by a love of wildlife, hunting, fishing, and sport shooting, the founders created Cedar Meadows with a clear mission: to conserve wildlife, promote safe and responsible firearm use, and foster education, community service, and fellowship.

Today, the club sits on over 40 acres of picturesque land in Dorchester County, Maryland — the birthplace of Harriet Tubman, a symbol of freedom and resilience. Over the decades, Cedar Meadows has become more than a shooting range; it stands as a historic and culturally significant gathering place, representing community pride, outdoor stewardship, and the pursuit of excellence.

Visiting such a storied site made this Veterans Day outing especially meaningful. The setting reflected the chapter’s own commitment to brotherhood, discipline, and leadership, while honoring the legacy of those who served both the fraternity and the nation.

Honoring Our Veterans

During the outing, brothers took time to reflect on the service and sacrifice of Eta Eta Lambda’s veterans — men whose commitment to duty and brotherhood continues to strengthen the chapter’s foundation. The fraternity’s timeless principles of Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for All Mankind were echoed throughout the day.

After time at the range, the brothers continued their fellowship at The Greene Turtle in Hanover, where stories were shared, laughter filled the room, and gratitude for one another’s service and friendship set the tone for the afternoon.

Looking Ahead

The Eta Eta Lambda Chapter remains dedicated to creating opportunities that promote unity, service, and brotherhood. This Veterans Day event not only honored those who have served but also reinforced our shared responsibility to uphold the values that define Alpha men — leadership, integrity, and community engagement.

As we look toward the year ahead, we continue to build on the spirit of this outing — preserving history, celebrating service, and strengthening the bonds of brotherhood.
