On Sunday, October 19th, Eta Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. proudly joined hundreds of supporters at UMBC’s Erickson Field for the 2025 Maryland Kidney Walk—a powerful day of unity, awareness, and service.

From the early morning setup to the final lap, our brothers showed up in strength and spirit, embodying the fraternity’s mission of “manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind.” The Health & Wellness Committee coordinated the chapter’s participation and ensured every detail—from logistics to attire—reflected Alpha excellence.

This year’s walk brought together survivors, families, and advocates all raising awareness for kidney disease—a condition that disproportionately affects the African American community. Our team, “Alpha Men Walking for a Cause,” not only met but exceeded its $700 fundraising goal and made $2.312.00. This contributes directly to the National Kidney Foundation’s mission to improve prevention, education, and treatment.

The event kicked off with a vibrant village of vendors, music, and motivational speakers. Brothers proudly represented in Alpha gear, taking part in group photos and sharing words of encouragement to other teams and walkers. The energy was uplifting, the camaraderie was genuine, and the cause was greater than any one of us.

As the Health & Wellness Committee continues to build on this momentum, the Kidney Walk serves as another reminder that collective action saves lives. We thank every brother, partner, family member, and supporter who donated, walked, or simply cheered from the sidelines.
