On Election Night 2024, the Eta Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. opened its doors to the community for a Presidential Election Watch Party, creating a space of fellowship, dialogue, and unity during one of the nation’s most anticipated evenings.

Building Beloved Community in a Divided Time

As election results came in, brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha and members of the Annapolis community gathered not merely to watch the numbers, but to engage in meaningful conversation about the future of our country. The event reflected the Fraternity’s deep commitment to civic engagement, community empowerment, and the creation of what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called the Beloved Community—a space rooted in mutual respect, love, and shared purpose.

Regardless of political affiliation or personal perspective, attendees joined together in the spirit of brotherhood and fellowship, demonstrating that unity and understanding can transcend even the most divisive moments.

A Night of Reflection and Relationship

Throughout the evening, guests shared food, laughter, and thoughtful discussion, reminding all in attendance that democracy is not just about casting ballots—it’s about building relationships, holding space for dialogue, and remaining connected even when outcomes differ.

The Eta Eta Lambda Chapter is proud to continue its tradition of promoting civic awareness, service, and engagement through events that uplift and strengthen the community.
